Natural Resources Spatial Data Analysis LabComputing Facilities Summary:

Research and teaching laboratories are distributed across 15 units on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. These GI Science facilities include four teaching labs (2 in Geography (1 being mobile) and 2 in Natural Resources) with a total instructional (seating) capacity of 90 seats for individual instruction. Added to this number are the research facilities and their associated computing resources. Seven centers (out of 15) on campus provide over 128 seats for research and application. This number does not include single seat activities of individual researchers. These same seven facilities utilize over 20 servers for support of web applications, software servers, and database servers. The disk space across these facilities totals over 14 terrabytes.

The peripherals associated with these centers includes printers, plotters, scanners, tape backup, UPS, GPS units, and many other resources.

The software utilized include the ESRI suite of software (ArcGIS 8.x and 9.x, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ArcView 3.x) as well as AutoCad. Image processing software include ERDAS, PCI, ERMapper, and ENVI. Several other packages are also utilized for statistical analysis and modeling (AGNPS, CARE, S-Plus, SAS, and SPSS). Database management systems include Oracle, SQL Server, Access, and others.
